Long ago, a group of cats roamed these lands, calling themselves the Osiners. The leader attacked a large, beautiful snowy owl, to feed his group so they could survive and move on. She cried out in agony, alerting her flock. It was the strangest sight; hundreds of different species of birds huddled together in nests. The leader, Donovan, a fire-element tabby, released the snowy owl known as Alabaster Wingfeather. Donovan apologized for attacking her, not knowing how great a bird was. Alabaster accepted his apology, but she had conditions.

“Young cat, our kind and your kind shall be great allies, even in the time of darkness. Our souls shall become one, and my birds shall be your eyes and ears to other things that you cannot see and hear for yourself,” the great bird hooted, her hoot could be heard from miles. Donovan was clearly agreeing with this bird.

“And with our souls, shall your elements become more of a reality.”

The cats’ elements were small ones, usually only a flicker of fire, a bubble of water, or a small plant could regenerate. The clearing became so bright, it washed over for miles. The birds began to fly overhead, merging with all of the cats in that group. Some souls disappeared, and soon every cat in these lands had a bird companion, their soul. Their elements grew and changed. Now cats can start forest fires, swim underwater for long periods of time, and so forth.

Now that was many a year ago, and some believe it is now just a tale now. That bird has always been a cat’s companion, their soul.

The Osiners grew into quite a kingdom. Large and fantastic, they rule these lands. But something went terribly wrong. An attack was placed upon the kingdom. Wolves attacked, in such vast numbers. Many were killed, others taken as slaves. Now the Osiner Kingdom must rebuild itself. There is one problem with that. The citizens are frightened. Religious beliefs are thrown out the window, and many are starting to plan things against the Royal head. A rebellion. And one other thing, the King and Queen of Osiner hate each other, will they put aside their hate and help the ones who care for everything they stand for? Or will their hate let the rebellion grow into something even bigger.
